Brothers Grimm, The (2005)
Dimension Films
Color 118 min
Director: Terry Gilliam
Cast: Matt Damon, Heath Ledger, Jonathan Pryce, Peter
Stormare, Mackenzie Crook, Monica Bellucci
Plot: The twist is
that the brothers aren’t
writers, but con artists, who employ one brother’s knowledge
of regional legend, and the other’s good looks and charisma,
to scam small villages for small fortunes. They’d usually
do this by staging a series of hauntings that would startle
the villagers enough to want to hire the brothers to rid the
supernatural foe.
While the brothers are scamming, France is busy trying to occupy
parts of Germany. This somehow causes paths to cross, and land
the Grimms in hot water with French military leader, Delatombe.
He hires an Italian mercenary named Cavaldi to hunt and bring
the brothers in. Before we know it, Delatombe sends the brothers
to a small northern village where these mystical things are happening;
all hell breaks loose; and the brothers discover that not all
things supernatural are of their doing.
